At the end of last year I participated in the Northlake Wedding Tour, which is a wedding tour that highlights various venues and wedding professionals within the city of Seattle. I had never participated in bridal fairs or wedding tours before but being brand new to Seattle I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to meet some new vendors and say hello to couples planning their upcoming weddings!
Our venue was the Hotel Deca in the University District neighborhood where Alyssa H Events did a lovely job of decorating and setting up a 1920’s inspired look. Before the guests arrived I snapped a few photos of the décor and took our models outside for a few quick shots where we were able to utilize some of the beautiful natural light of that day. Our model couple were newlyweds so they had a blast getting back into wedding attire and cozying up together for a few shots. The bride looked amazing in an Eve of Milady designer gown, bold red lips to match her bouquet and a side swiped updo. They looked so chic against the rough backdrop of the city.
And on that note, I love city weddings! And by city wedding I’m not referring to fancy hotels but rather those funky, unique urban venues that have so much personality to them that they almost don’t need decor. A few of my favorites are Sodo Park in Seattle, Elysian in Los Angeles and Smogshoppe in LA. There are so many interesting backdrops and elements to create wildly exciting and totally different wedding portraits. These types of wedding venues are popping up all over the place in some of the coolest cities in America so if you’re planning a wedding definitely consider breaking away from the norm and hosting a rad, downtown wedding adventure!
