A Coastal Wedding at The Admiral’s House // Scott + Katherine

My favorite summer wedding venue in Seattle is most definitely The Admiral’s House. The Admiral’s House is located just minutes from downtown in the charming neighborhood of Magnolia. And with both city and water views, it’s just the most ideal spot for a Seattle wedding in the summer!

One of the reasons I adore this particular venue so much is because of the old colonial style home that sits on the property. So many PNW venues are lodges or cabins with darker, orange tones inside or limited window light, but The Admiral’s House has white walls, open space, and tons of window light, which allows for stunning getting ready photos and detail shots! And if you follow me then you know I’m all about that first hour in the day and making a wedding feel complete from start to finish. And trust me, finding a space that compliments your venue aesthetic and has great light is something worth doing if you’re a fan of those pre ceremony shots.

Finally, The Admiral’s House will always be a favorite of mine because of how timeless and beautiful the property is. It feels like a classic backyard wedding, but elevated! The white exterior of the house makes for a beautiful backdrop for the entire reception and goes well with any color scheme or décor elements.

Katherine and Scott’s wedding day turned out to be a gorgeous summer day and much hotter than we had anticipated! They decided to utilize the natural color scheme of the property and went with a coastal vibe that incorporated various hues of blue, green, dusty pinks, and white accents to match the house. Their theme felt effortless and like it belonged in the space. I would definitely say my two favorite décor elements from their big day were the multi colored candlesticks and the wooden chairs. Small details like this are what take a wedding from generic to stylish and personalized.

Another fun element of the day were the 20 guys and gals in Scott and Katherine’s wedding party! Let’s just say it was a party from the moment the day began! Corralling such a large wedding party can be a struggle, but it is very sweet to see a bride and groom surrounded by so many friends and so much love on their biggest day! But with that many people and a lack of shade at the venue mid day, we decided to head to a local park for those fun group shots with the bridal party. It was a great choice and we ended up finding shade and a space for all 22 people to spread out comfortably! I think my favorite moment with the entire wedding was the celebratory toast right after the ceremony inside. I was able to snag a very causal group shot of everyone and it turned out to be my favorite of the day!

As guests began to arrive they were met with champagne and eventually moved to the garden for the ceremony. The rest of the event was spent eating delicious food, drinking handcrafted cocktails, and letting loose on the dance floor. It was a perfect summer evening to celebrate Scott and Katherine!
