Modern Mauve Woodmark Hotel Wedding // Jesse + Brenda

Okay you guys, it’s official… summer weddings in Seattle are the best! There’s something about all of the green trees, bodies of water, and the bright sun that make it the perfect scene for a classic summer wedding. And a great venue to bring all three of those elements together would definitely be the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland. This waterfront venue provides a classic white tent that goes with any style to provide a little shade on a hot day, a picture perfect view of Lake Washington, and a boutique hotel attached so guests have a place to stay after the party is done. This was my first time documenting a wedding day at the Woodmark and I fell hard for this spot! I don’t typically prefer hotel weddings as they can often be completely indoors and in busy settings, but this boutique hotel had a totally different feel. My favorite elements of this Pacific Northwest wedding venue was the large dock area which made the perfect backdrop for family and bridal party portraits; the clean aesthetic of the getting ready rooms with white interiors and lots of window light; and lastly, having both the ceremony and reception outdoors under a white tent where we could utilize the natural light of the day and I could play to my strengths as a natural light wedding photographer. Needless to say, after photographing Brenda and Jesse’s big day at the Woodmark Hotel, I will happily be back!

Jesse and Brenda are recent Seattle transplants who wanted to plan a classic PNW wedding for all of their out of town family and friends could enjoy. And let me just say, the weather hasn’t been on our side this year, but we ended up with a perfectly sunny day without a cloud in sight. So we took full advantage of the great weather and did all of the portraits out by the water and even took a boat ride after their ceremony to let the newlyweds enjoy a little time alone together as husband and wife. But the most memorable part of this June celebration was when Brenda changed into her traditional red Vietnamese gown half way through the reception. She looked absolutely stunning in the red and gold and I was so happy we got to take a few golden hour portraits with her second look. Everything from the flowers and décor to the timeline and food was perfectly planned and executed making for a picture perfect day! I feel so honored to have spent the day alongside Brenda and Jesse and all of their closest loved ones.
